Bio:
Welcome to my online portfolio! As a young professional in the theatre, most of the work you will find here was created in the context of various assignments and projects completed during my time as a Dramaturgy Major at Carnegie Mellon University. My experience has proven to me that theatre is indispensable and that art can absolutely change lives. I am interested in theatre that provokes, encourages, challenges, inspires and uplifts. No matter what the project, I am determined to bring passion, intelligence and creativity to the team I work with, and to always finish a richer artist than I was when I began.
Why Dramaturgy?
Dramaturgy is difficult to define because it is, by nature, liminal. It exists somewhere between a director and a playwright, between a historian and a teacher, between an artist and a critic. That is the difficulty, but also the beauty of being a dramaturg. Because we live in the spaces in-between, we are able to bridge the gaps between the past and the present, the text and the stage, play and the audience. As a theatre artist, I hope to be able to bring artists and audiences together to create and experience life-changing art that can bring us to tears, to our knees, and sometimes to our senses. Art is based in culture, community and, most importantly, collaboration. I hope to be someone who facilitates, encourages and shapes that collaboration.
